Amannda @ Bal en Blanc 2009

It is confirmed, Amannda will be doing her presentation at the Bal en Blanc 2009. Fresh from her presentation at the NYE Masterbeat party in Los Angeles, and having her new single "Listen" rapidly becoming one of the Summer hits in Brazil, I think she will be super energized to do well in front of 15,000 people on Easter Sunday in Montreal.

Fly - Toronto - 10th Anniversary

If you are in Toronto this weekend, don't miss the 10th anniversary celebration of the Fly club, none other than Ana Paula will be making the Torontonians move like there is no tomorrow.

Talking about Ana Paula, she must be feeling very good lately, started coming to Montreal, then Toronto called, finally Miami got in the boat, Palm Spring didn't want to stay behind, then Whistler wants her right after Toronto, just don't know why New York has not booked her yet. No wonder why she left her residence at The Week in Rio de Janeiro. I'm pretty sure she is going to do an awesome job at the Bal en Blanc this year.

Rafael Calvente @ Unity - Valentine's day

and senhor Calvente is back to Montreal, and for sure we need a hot DJ to warm us up a bit eh? I also noticed Mr. Calvente will start playing at Fly Club in Toronto as well - he is booked to play on February 28 at their Carnival party (officially Carnival will have ended a couple of days earlier, but don't tell that to the Torontonians okay?)

Parking is not making our lives easy, because they have booked the power house of Stephan Grondin for their Red Party - decisions, decisions and more decisions. If I were in Montreal I'm not sure which party I would go to, but because I won't be in town I will leave this decision to you.

Mind Control @ Parking

What are you doing on January 31? Whatever you are planning to do, just make sure to stop by to see this duo, I don't think you will regret it.

Danny Torrence @ Unity - December 31, 2008

I cannot believe it has taken me almost a month in order to write this review. There were several options for the last party of the year, and at the end we decided to have a house party, and afterward moving to Unity to experience what Danny Torrence had planned for the night. Danny is another in my top DJ list from Montreal, and I have been in some crazy and amazing parties he has been in charge before.

Probably arrived at around 1:00am and oh my gosh it was freaking cold in Montreal, and probably this is why I was hoping to have a super happy moving hot type of set from Danny. Did I get that? Probably if I had started the night at Unity, because I'm sure he must have dropped bomb after bomb up to the final countdown, when I got there he was feeling a bit in the mellow side.

The mellow phase lasted for a while, and finally he started to drop some hot tunes, heaven on earth under the command of Torrence, but unfortunately for myself he went back to the mellow phase no longer after. I only wish I had heard his set before midnight.

Young crowd, but lots of fun specially when most of people from the house party, I was at earlier in the evening, were at Unity as well. Got the chance to give Danny the Happy New Year hug, stayed until the end, and by the time I got to my car, I had this big smile in my face because last year Danny Torrence was the DJ that introduced me to the new year, and here he was doing the same for 2009.

Stephan Grondin @ Parking - December 27, 2008

One of my favourite DJs from Montreal, and too bad I haven't had the chance to see him more often in the last couple of months. Grondin is probably one of the nicest person out there, and when he is in charge of the decks just make sure to have some comfortable shoes to dance, because it is usually a non stop trip to paradise.

House music twisted in Grondin's style is what I call it, and have you noticed how many DJs usually show up when Grondin is spinning? The music was above and beyond my expectations, moving my body from beginning to end and I can still hear the "Miles Away" remix played during the night - I believe it is Grondin's production, but not sure - you don't understand, I got chills when the song started to blast, and let me tell I was not the only one.

Some "classic" tunes were played, and everything made sense, we heard fast rhythm when needed, and slowing down the music when necessary. The vibe was sexy, happy, dark, a perfect ending for 2008.

Victor Calderone @ Unity - December 20, 2008

First of all I must apologize to the Unity crew because sometimes I keep referring to Stereo when talking about them. I just hope Unity take this as a complement, because in order to recreate something similar to what Stereo has had in the past is not an easy task.

Said that, you must realize Unity was transformed by Victor Calderone into something none of the Unity regulars could recognize. Unity became an Evolve night in a regular bar scale. Yes, there were still lots of young people, but it got diluted by the number of Calderone's followers that showed up. Whoever left early because "there were too many young people" at the beginning, they have no idea what a fun and great party they missed.

Although I hadn't seen Victor in a while, I wasn't sure which Victor was going to show up for the night, specially since some friends from NYC had told he had played some disappointing sets in the big apple.

Victor was superb, and he is still in his techy phase, and I believed he adjusted his set a bit for the night, making it happier and adding some tribalish tunes to flavour more the dance floor. He looked very happy and the dance floor even more.

I already apologized at the beginning, so I'm guess I'm allowed to go back to my referrals. Unity was transformed into a mini Stereo, the vibe was just off the hook with beautiful people all over the place. The mix of ages was also refreshing to see at Unity, and what I really enjoyed was the fact the room was kept dark most of the time. If someone asked me what could be done to improve the space, my answer would be to do exactly what was done during Victor's nights with the lights, keep it dark.

I only wish Unity always had a mix age crowd as this evening, I would probably go there more often. Maybe I'm the one getting too old, didn't think about that.

Richie Hawtin @ Amore 08 Rome Minus area

By the way, did you know Parking, Laika and even Stereo (before the fire incident) broadcast their nights via Internet in real time? Just have to visit www.awdio.com for more information, and you can always search other cities to see which clubs are also broadcasting. Think about it, you can have dinner listening to live music from London, Paris and Mykonos, or breakfast with music from Sydney or Melbourne.

Valentine's Day 2009

Ladies and gentleman, Aussiebum is giving you some ideas for the upcoming Valentine's day - I wonder if they have the combo?

Samara - Verano (Roger Shah Mix)

Germany in the house - Roger Shah is one of the confirmed DJs for the Trance room at the Bal en Blanc 2009, and this is one of his latest hits (Verano). Too bad I couldn't find a video with moving images.

Victor Calderone, Stephan Grondin & Danny Torrence

Those are the missing reviews that I shall be posting this week: Victor Calderone at Unity, Stephan Grondin at Parking, and Danny Torrence at Unity for NYE. Busy with my schedule, but I must post those reviews soon.

Danny Torrence just turned 33

and to celebrate, he is hosting his infamous Climaxxx party at the Red-Lite afterhours club in Laval.

Cube Guys @ Parking

and if after Parking you still want to keep dancing to their tunes, they are going to be joining Stéfane Lippé at the Circus Afterhours. You can do a search in my blog in order to find the last review I wrote about them.

Bal en Blanc - Easter 2009

As it happens at this time of the year, rumours are flying about who are the invited DJs this year, then you have the endless talks in the public forums about "prices are too high", "I don't want to see Guetta again", "Armin is back", and etcetera.

What I can tell you is the following, there are two types of people, those who are going and those who aren't, therefore my suggestion to you is: buy your ticket now if you are one of those going.

Above and Beyond is confirmed, so is Victor Calderone, it is extremely likely that Ana Paula (who just announced she is leaving her residense at The Week Rio) is booked as well, and I wouldn't be surprised if Vibe is in the house. The talk of the town is that the Trance room will be insane this year, but just having Victor Calderone and Ana Paula in the House room, is insane enough for me.

My main request to the Bal en Blanc people is please take of the entrance this year, try to avoid the fiasco that has occurred in the past. The Bal en Blanc has claimed those problems were out of their hands, then I would ask them to make sure, in 2009, this issue is taken care professionally, make it a priority so people can have the best experience ever out of this event.

If you have never been at a massive party in Montreal, the "Bal en Blanc" and "Black & Blue" are two of the events I would highly suggest you to attend.

The Big Apple

And just in case you haven't been to New York City yet, here is a video from Hostelworld.com regarding this amazing city.

Chus & Ceballos @ Alegria - NYC

Finally some deserved change for the Alegria party in NYC - Chus & Ceballos have been invited to be the stars of the night. I think is going to be interesting, because unlike in Montreal (where Chus & Ceballos are adored by the gay crowd), in NYC they are more recognized by the straight side of the business.

I'm supposed to be traveling to NYC for this party, not 100% sure yet, but I hope I can make it.

Grondin @ Unity

after his incredible set at Parking last December, I would highly suggest you to check him out at Unity.

and if anyone knows what is the name of the Madonna's "Miles Away" remix he is playing, s.v.p. let me know asap.

Aquarela do Brasil

Enjoying the weather in Montreal boys and girls? Actually, it is not that bad, but when it comes February or March, I'm probably going to be sick and tired of the white stuff we have out there.

Busy as usual, and I know there are some reviews missing, but they are coming, until them I'll leave you with "Aquarela do Brasil", this Disney animation that introduced Zé Carioca to the Disney family.

Obviously there is much more about this simple Disney animation that you might think, which involves a World War from the last century, just dig in and you will find the history behind it.

Richie Santana & Peter Bailey @ Parking

Mind Control is coming to Parking at the end of the month people, and I'm really looking forward this party.

(((STEREO))) : we will survive !

While we wait, here is something to take you back into the temple.

Dear Diary - Day 1

and we made it, and although it is only official on January 26, we are in the year of the Ox.

I still have to come back with my review for Stephan Grondin's party at Parking, and obviously Danny Torrence at Unity, but until then I'll leave you with this funny pre-flight announcement - I want to have one of those flight attendants in my next flight.

"Although we never anticipated change of cabin pressure, should one occur, four beautiful golden, I can`t believe its not a buttercup look alike, designed oxygen mask will magically appear from secret compartments above your head,"

Does Patius Needs a New Logo?

How do you feel if we were to change the logo to this one?
