DJ Mag: Top 100 Clubs 2010

DJ Magazine has just released their results for the top 100 clubs around the world, and Montreal makes the list twice, not bad for a city with only 3 afterhours eh?

Top 14: Stereo (top club in North America)

Top 60: Circus

Congratulations to both clubs, and Berghain, my favourite club in Berlin, makes the list at number 8 - and I must mention another of my favourite clubs in São Paulo - D-Edge at number 16.

Victor Calderone @ Berghain - April 3, 2010

Seriously, I would love to be in Berlin for this party, and if you are a man and in Berlin, I highly suggest this party for the night. Unfortunately for the ladies, this night Berghain will be for men only, but you can always check out Panorama, separate entrance this time around.

Line-up @ Berghain: Boris, Victor Calderone, and Marcel Fengler

Can't be in Berlin? Victor will be at Parking on Monday night, April 5 for the Bal en Blanc recovery party.

Chus & Ceballos @ Stereo - March 20, 2010

When I got there, the place was just beginning to fill up, and I didn't have to wait at all to get in because I had a ticket, and yes, there were people waiting in line. Each new arrival added to the rising energy surrounding the dance floor, I quickly glanced a look to the decks and you could see how ready Chus & Ceballos were for the night, big smiles, warm feeling and I'm sure in their heads they already had a master plan how they were going to attack the dance floor. Jungle fever with zebra dancers and everything you need to have a wild night of dancing, do I need to say more?

A remixed version of "Como Sera o Amanhã" started to play, a Brazilian samba tune mixed into a tribal style, and by now I knew what kind of Chus & Ceballos I was going to hear.

The place quickly fill to capacity and this is when the party started, volume went up and the energy followed accordingly. Chus & Ceballos are perfect for long sets, because they are able to give a perfect beginning, the middle and the end of a story, they are capable of taking you into a voyage with different meanings, and all of them making sense, at least in you head.

The duo were divine from beginning to end, and peak time was at around 7:00am, and too bad if you didn't stay until this time because you probably missed the best of the party. Groove music, with reborn tribal tunes, original classics, new wave tribal, or whatever you want to call it, Chus & Ceballos gave us their best music, dark techy, mild techno house, progressive and all the genres of house music you love and hate, some call it the European house music, I call it the Chus & Ceballos touch.

Great vocals made the dancers vibrate at higher levels, and let me tell you there were lots of good looking men and women - eye candy wouldn't make justice in this case, I would say it was more like high concentrate levels of sugar injected into your body. The vibe was what you expect from Stereo on a great night, very friendly crowd, and my feeling is the new Stereoheads are already learning the ways of the place. Loved the fact I was able to meet up with old timers, several of them came out of hibernation in order to try their dance skills again. Rafael Calvente, Isaac Escalante, Danny Torrence, Bear and many other DJ's ended up at Stereo as well.

Chus & Ceballos brought the music, Stereo provided the space, and the people were the ones that added the elements, the characters, to make this evening a special event to remember. Thank you Stereo for another incredible night of dancing.

Bal en Blanc 16 - April 2010

Isaac, Rafa, Chus & Ceballos

I'm still dealing with computer issues, and after such a long week I deserve a very long night of dancing. Couple things happening today, but I just know I'll ended up at Stereo for Chus & Ceballos. Most likely I'll be at Parking as well, by the way horrible flyer Parking (please, don't use that style anymore).

Loco Friday

this should be a very interesting evening at Stereo, and I'm really debating if I'm going to be there or not - have too many things to do today and probably will be too tired to go out, so it is most likely I will only be there for Chus and Ceballos.

iTunes Disaster

Everything started yesterday, I had just finished creating a computer network in my house, when instead of just sharing the contents of my music / video / picture folders, I accidentally moved the actual folders to the Share Documents area.

Not a bid deal I thought, the only thing I did was to cut the pointers between my music folder and iTunes. Tried to move the folders back to their original location, but this time Windows was telling I couldn't do it. Had to move the contests of each folder to new created folders in the owner's area. I thought the lost links would be reestablished by this move, but unfortunately they were gone and I'm not that crazy to start manually linking the music files.

Another consequence of my action: my computer no longer could see my Apple TV, but I was still able to send music to my sound system via Apple TV - I haven't figure out this one yet, because with the changes I've done, now I'm unable to synchronize iTunes and Apple TV.

Anyway, I decided to delete from and import all the music back into iTunes, this time with some changes - it worked well, but then today I decided to do something different and had to delete the music from iTunes again ... not realizing that by mistake I also deleted the original files in My Music folder - yeap, 15 days worth of music gone.

Too tired to do anything tonight, and keep you posted with my computer adventures.

Gaga & Beyoncé

Very twisted video, and don't even start analyzing it cause you won't go anywhere, nevertheless looks like this is the second video, "Paparazzi" being the fist because isn't that when she goes to jail?

BUD HOUSE - World Cup South Africa 2010

Ladies and gentlemen, I was just approached by some interesting people, looking to make the lives of 32 passionate soccer fans, into something they are going to remember for the rest of their lives - and best of all, it will happen in South Africa.

Summary: Bud House is casting for a project where one passionate soccer fan from each of the 32 qualifying nations in the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, will be selected to participate in this web reality show.

"If chosen, he or she will be flown to Cape Town, South Africa, for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ and enjoy luxurious accommodations, thrilling excursions, and the opportunity to have the kind of access few fans ever have. Thirty-two fans - one from each of the qualifying countries - will live together, sharing their passion for their home team with each other and the world, as an award-winning production company films the excitement of the games and the overall FIFA World Cup™ experience."

and more info

"In general, this is the biggest project of this kind anyone has ever attempted. Because there are 32 cast members, from all around the world, this is genuinely a project that wouldn't even have been possible during the last world cup. Before the advent of social networking and online media, it would have been necessary to have producers travel to each of the individual countries to find participants, which would have made the project cost-prohibitive. This is both a new kind of show and a new way to produce it."

Las Vegas, Nevada - February 2010

And no, this picture below is not Las Vegas, it is actually Los Angeles right before landing. I was going to post a photo-video but I'm having issues with the music copyrights, one of my friends is working in creating special music for my youtube uploads, but until is ready, here is old fashion way of posting pictures.

My trip was supposed to be only to Los Angeles, instead I was surprised with a little get away to the Sin City, and I loved it. It has been a while since I've been thinking about going to Vegas, and it is a great place to spent a long weekend. There are many things to do, and be prepared to walk a lot, and it is a good thing all the hotels in the Las Vegas strip (new Vegas) are connected by sky-walks, and parking (at the hotels) is free everywhere (or self parking as they call it).

Just make sure to check out the Old Vegas (downtown), or Freemont Street, this is where the original casinos started, and where the giant neons signs were located. Today the street has been covered by a giant projection screen, and this is where the locals go to gamble.

Another thing you should do while in Vegas, is to go see one of their famous shows, and there are many of them. Do not forget to check the discount box office for cheaper show tickets. I had the chance to see the Cirque du Soleil show "O", and what a treat that was. If you have an American Express, and you buy the ticket at the Bellagio box office you will get 25% discount.

Definitely I recommend this city for a long weekend, just not sure about bring the kids with you, maybe you will enjoy the city more without them.
