Roger Sanchez @ Terrasses Bonsecours - May 23, 2010

Quick summary: Better day to have an outdoor party was impossible, and even better was the nice mix of people that showed up at the Terrasses Bonsecours for this event. I probably arrived by 4:30pm and Uppercut was already on the decks, but everyone was raving about the DJ that had preceded Uppercut, and I have no idea who he was.

There is only one thing, if you bought your tickets before hand, you probably paid around CND 15.00 or so, but I just found a bit excessive what they were charging if you were buying your ticket at the door - personally I believe CND 40.00 is a bit too much.

Roger arrived with a Latin bang and he keep up the mood during the almost 3 hours of his set (6-9pm). Very powerful house beat, with lots of vocals, very strong Latin influence, some great classics, add some popular commercial tunes, nice energy, beautiful people and the result is a fantastic day in Montreal.

Danny Torrence came right after Roger but unfortunately I had to leave, some people were waiting for me so we could go for round 2 of the night, with David Morales. By the way, if you looked at the other side of the river, you could see the other party, Piknic Electronik was also packed.

Divers/Cité Ball @ Telus Theatre - August 3, 2008 (Alain Jackinsky, Oscar Velazquez & Ana Paula)

Djs: Alain Jackinsky, Oscar Velazquez and Ana Paula. Sad was how I felt when I found out Stereo would no longer be able to host the Divers/Cité Ball this year, everyone knows how much I love that venue, and I really hope it opens up soon. Nevertheless, after seeing how many people came out for this party, I was actually okay to have it held at the old Aria place. Four years ago I had one of the most incredible experiences at this place, it was then called the Prideball and it was Peter Rauhofer the headliner of the night. Met wonderful people and this experience will stay with me for a long time. Today the party is called the Divers/Cité Ball and one Canadian, one Mexican and one Brazilian were the ones in charge of our entertainment. Berlin August 2009

and below you will find pictures from the second part of my trip to Northern Europe. The Baltic was fantastic, and after moving around for a while I was ready to spend 10 days in this city, and with a small detour to Potsdam (considered by some as being part of Berlin) and Dresden. If you want to see what happened when East and West Germany got reunified, then Berlin should be part of your itinerary. I'm guessing the older generation still thinks of Germany as the East and West, because you still can hear people talking about "how East Germans do things" or "how West Germany had to ...", but with the new generation slowly those divisions are disappearing. If the East used to be gray and depressing - as I was told - then today East Berlin is colourful and vibrant. I must admit it is interesting, coming from Canada, to see everyone carrying and drinking their beers in the metro, streets and anywhere they feel like it. Berlin does have a type of bohemian feel...
