Black & Blue 10.10.10

DJ Theresa @ Parking - August 14, 2010

This was my second time seeing this girl work her magic, and she is rapidly becoming one of my fav deejays when looking for happy tunes to dance. I believe I mentioned in the past she has this commercial vibe, but it is all good, because the music she played might be a collection of best hits since I remember I exist but she has reworked the music to make it sound 2010.

I just love the special energy she injects to the people, and it stays constant from beginning to end. Very original style and I can see why she is been booked everywhere now. I must add that if any event is looking for someone to add this special happy touch to their parties, T-Dance is the first thing that comes to my mind, they should book this girl pronto.

Generally speaking I believe Montreal loves this dark type of sound that many deejays play, and it is nice to see someone like Theresa playing happy sounds and making everyone happy on the dance floor.

If you are in New York City for the Labour long weekend, you might want to check out the Matinén party, Theresa will be one of the deejays.

Matinée - La Leche Edition

The end of the Summer is upon us boys and girls, but no worries Matinée has decided to bring the warm European party flavour to North America, and after a successful pride event held back in June in NYC, they are trying the Milk Edition - yes, you read right, the Leche Edition during the Labour long weekend.

This blog has been invited to be in NCY for this event and coincidentally there is a road trip planned, so you never know, you might be reading a review of this new event which is promising many things, and the most important of all is the promise of a good time.

This is what Matinée trying to bring to NYC? I will let them tell you all about it:

MATINEE NEW YORK BRINGS THE SPIRIT TO IBIZA TO THE BIG APPLE

4,000 Revelers converge on Governor’s Island for a spectacle of light, sound & fireworks - Lavish follow-up event planned for September

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – The spirit of Ibiza hit the Big Apple in grand fashion on June 26, when a dream team of New York nightlife talent joined forces to present MATINÉE NEW YORK: the first stateside edition of the award-winning European event franchise.

Over 4,000 revelers took the ferry from Lower Manhattan to historic Governor’s Island for a full-tilt aural and visual experience, with the spectacular New York City skyline looking on. The event surpassed attendance and audience expectations, and was dubbed by the press as “one of the more phenomenal parties of 2010” – setting the stage for more MATINÉE events in the city that never sleeps.

"I wanted to bring something new and refreshing to New York nightlife; to raise the bar and make it a total experience," says event producer Jake Resnicow, "And we're just getting started."

“I’ve traveled to nightlife capitals all over the globe and heard hundreds of pitches to bring events to New York,” adds co-producer Tommy Marinelli. “But when Jake came to me with MATINÉE, I knew this was the one we had to do."

The 6-hour show included theatrical décor, death-defying aerialists, a full cast of 30 dancers and performers, live vocal performances, and energetic sets from MATINÉE NEW YORK resident DJs Taito Tikaro and Theresa. The high-level production aimed to bring to New York the experience of the MATINÉE Group’s acclaimed European parties – like MATINÉE Summer Festival, MATINÉE Winter Festival, and the signature Space @ Ibiza –in a huge, one-of-a-kind open-air space.

"This was probably the most challenging and also the most rewarding project I've ever undertaken," says MATINÉE NEW YORK Artistic Director Giovanni Perez. "I had seen the videos from Ibiza and knew that there would be very high expectations to re-create this level of production."

Perez created six major shows with custom costumes throughout the night, including two choreographed aerial acts. Billboard chart-topping recording artists Andrea Carnell made a surprise appearance, singing her #1 MATINÉE Records hit, "Open Up Your Heart.” Esteemed guests like international superstar DJ Danny Tenaglia (who called the event “an incredible experience”) and Pacha New York resident Boris joined the eager crowd. The evening concluded – an hour after schedule because of the unstoppable vibe – with a surprise fireworks display.

Rob Fernandez (Pacha) and Benny Soto (Dance.Here.Now/718 Sessions) joined Resnicow and Marinelli, to bring MATINÉE NEW YORK to vibrant life.

The next edition of MATINÉE NEW YORK comes this September with LA LECHE FESTIVAL (The Fashion White Party), a decadent couture circus for the senses, cast in white and crystal, and set to brilliant beats.

DJ J.Louis, DJ Theresa and a surprise artist will be in charge of the night, so if you are in the NYC area, I believe it is something worth checking out because I heard milk is good for you in man ways.
