Happy Pride Toronto
Yes, after the G20 gathering, I believe my beloved Toronto is ready for a major party weekend, and no more breaking windows place. I was supposed to drive down to TO but instead I'm instead in the Montreal area, my BF is in town from LA and we have come catching up to do. Don't worry, I'll be posting more information before you get there, and if you are there, I guess you don't need me eh?

David Morales and Chus & Ceballos
The power from NYC and Madrid are back in town, and unfortunately due to a dental work, I won't be able to go to either parties, which trust me it will hurt, but it would be more painful if I go because I know I won't be able not to dance.

The Martinez Brothers @ Stereo - June 12, 2010
The Martinez Brothers is a duo that brings the much needed new blood aspect to the New York City music scene. I won’t apologize for getting directly into the point, and I must say the first time I heard they were coming to spin at Stereo, a couple of months ago, I was a bit skeptical, first because of their age, and second because I had no idea who they were.
I had the wonderful opportunity to hear and dance to their work this past Saturday and this inspired me to find out more about these two young brothers, which seems to have a never ending source of energy, and we are not talking about the non organic one eh? It is all pure energy from their own bodies.
If I’m correct, Chris is 18 and Stevie is 21, and they already played in some of my favorites clubs around the world, and many more I still want to check out. The Martinez Brothers seem to have found the perfect balance between house music and techno, and the combination I must say it is just irresistible and a killer to your body, because god knows you will need extra energy to keep up with these boys.
The Martinez Brothers’ dad was actually a club kid that use to party at the legendary Paradise Garage club in New York in the 80’s, and he is the one that bought them their first DJ equipment and the rest it is like a Cinderella story. The boys befriended different people in the industry, and finally they were asked to spin at the club Shelter, at the time they were still underage and they were only allowed in after last call, which for many after-hours is kind of prime time, unless you are at Stereo of course, where peak time is usually around 7:00am. The boys were a total hit at the club, and from them on they have become a total success not only in North America but also in Europe.
DJ Christian Pronovost was the one in charge of the warm, and I must say he did quite a good job, perhaps only for 30 minutes I felt a bit bored, but other than that his set was gradual and perfect for what was to come. The club fill out fast and I must say the TMB have a big following in this city already, and talk about diversity in the crowd. Not really sure but I believe TMB started their set at around 4:30am, and you could tell they had take over, because it was pure house techno in the house, and what delicious tunes they were playing.
What I loved was the fact these boys were able to give me the perfect mix of house music and techno, one complementing the other, and at the same time they have an unique way in showing this to the crowd, and loved the vocals they were adding here and there during their set.
Guys, I could not stop dancing, and if you know me you know that when I’m inspired there is no way I will stop dancing, and the sweat was dropping from my body like crazy, and thanks god for those stages because it is the perfect place to dance comfortably without been scared you are going to hit someone with your moves.
Looked around and you could see how people were just into the music, and obviously at first I could not understand what a rabbit was doing dancing with a girl, finally it hit me, it was Alice in wonderland, sexy Alice, and never mind Mr. Sexy Rabbit. The difference is in this story Alice did not follow the rabbit into a hole, instead she was taken close to heaven, and by the looks of it, I think almost everyone thought they were close to paradise. Who knew Mr. Martinez, the one that used to party at Paradise Garage, would one day have his offspring entertain Stereoheads in Montreal, in a club that was inspired by this New York city legendary club - thank you Mr. Martinez.
If you haven’t seen these boys yet, do not miss them next time they are in your town, they are worth it and don’t worry about their age, I actually wish many other senior deejays play more like the Martinez Brothers, because their inspiration, remix ability and live productions are just perfect for a great night out.
Gracias hermanos Martinez, han ganado un nuevo seguidor en Montreal.

Double Doses of Danny Tenaglia @ Stereo
Just in, Danny Tenaglia will play two consecutive nights at Stereo in the month of July. First I thought Stereo was planing to bring him for July 1, but it has been confirmed that July 23 and 24 are the his "playing" dates at the temple.

Grand Prix Weekend - Montreal 2010
Gorgeous Saturday in Montreal, and can you believe I spent the whole day watching soccer games? Yeah, I know ... and it is also the Grand Prix weekend in Montreal, as a friend of mine said, it is Straight Pride weekend in the city.
My boy Danny Torrence will be celebrating Tel Aviv's pride at Unity, and Oscar will rock Parking, there are a couple of things happening at the Terrasses Bonsecours, and do not forget the Picnic Electronik on Sunday at the Place de l'home (Parc Jean-Drapeau) - yes, the race is on right in the next island, but that won't stop the music (Ostrich, Giles Smith, James Priestley and Vincent Lemieux)
Crescent Street is closed for traffic and there are thousand and thousand of people just walking around having a good time, celebrating the Canadian Grand Prix. Where am I going to be? To tell you the truth I haven't been at the temple in a while, and I have never seen the young duo Martinez Brothers in action, so maybe it is time to check them out.
One last thing, do not forget that tonight the fireworks competition begins, which means lots of streets will be closed after 8:00pm - don't drive, use public transportation instead. Italy is scheduled to start the firework competition. More information at L'international des feux Loto-Quebec.

DJ Estefanio - Brazil
What a perfect day to watch a movie or to listen to some good music at home, just hope this rain doesn't become a regular visitor during the weekends.
São Paulo is still celebrating their Pride, and lots of the big boys and girls are in South America for the occasion, so I'll leave you with a set from this Brazilian DJ Estefanio (Rio de Janeiro) called "Sound that I'm used to".

Fifa World Cup 2010
Just one more week and the craziness begins around the world, and lucky the ones in South Africa.

David Morales @ Parking - May 23, 2010
Gosh I miss Morales, and I really hope we have the chance to dance to his tunes again at the temple soon, and until then we’ll keep enjoying his performances at Parking.
Yes, I understand I’m late with this review, and I thought about not posting it, but David Morales deserves my written attention because of his last gig in Montreal, and it won’t be a full review instead I‘ll give you the short story.
What can I say? This was an upgraded Morales, you got to see all the elements of what make Morales Morales. You had the vibrant classic house music full of soul, you had the powerful divas, and we all know how much David love his divas, you had an astonishing contagious electro-techy sounds, and don’t forget about the tribal beats, and the most important of all, the energy brought by David himself.
During the evening I found myself with goose bumps in several occasions, just listening to the music and looking at how the crowd reacted was enough to make me wish the evening didn’t end. Got to hear several new tunes and wish someone could give us the set list for the evening.
The crowd was beautiful and hungry for a great evening of dancing, I thought I was never going to stop dancing, but by the time I left Parking, I had been dancing for almost 11 hours already (round 1 was at the Terrasses Bonsecours with Roger Sanchez), so please forgive me if I had to leave by 2:30am.
Why did I say it was an upgraded Morales? Because you have seen him spin before (in a good night), then imagine that ten times better, that people is an upgrade David Morales, so you can understand how impatient I’m to see his new album to be released now in 2010.
Finally, "Say Something" still makes me go crazy.

Roger Sanchez @ Terrasses Bonsecours - May 23, 2010
Quick summary: Better day to have an outdoor party was impossible, and even better was the nice mix of people that showed up at the Terrasses Bonsecours for this event. I probably arrived by 4:30pm and Uppercut was already on the decks, but everyone was raving about the DJ that had preceded Uppercut, and I have no idea who he was.
There is only one thing, if you bought your tickets before hand, you probably paid around CND 15.00 or so, but I just found a bit excessive what they were charging if you were buying your ticket at the door - personally I believe CND 40.00 is a bit too much.
Roger arrived with a Latin bang and he keep up the mood during the almost 3 hours of his set (6-9pm). Very powerful house beat, with lots of vocals, very strong Latin influence, some great classics, add some popular commercial tunes, nice energy, beautiful people and the result is a fantastic day in Montreal.
Danny Torrence came right after Roger but unfortunately I had to leave, some people were waiting for me so we could go for round 2 of the night, with David Morales. By the way, if you looked at the other side of the river, you could see the other party, Piknic Electronik was also packed.
